Description
Circa 2007
A custom movie prop manufactured by PROPOLOGY.ca. Designed to portray C4 demolition block—modeled after standard military specifications. This is a completely inert replica intended for on-screen use in motion pictures.
Real-World Use Cases:
Military Applications:
- Tactical Breaching: Used by combat engineers to quickly blow open doors, walls, or fortified positions. Its putty-like form allows it to be molded directly into door hinges or wall cracks for precise, directional blasts.
- Structural Demolition: C4 is the standard tool for destroying military targets like bridge girders, concrete bunkers, and anti-tank obstacles.
- Underwater Operations: Because it is insoluble and highly resistant to water erosion, it is the preferred explosive for clearing underwater mines, deep-sea salvage, and harbor deepening.
- Weapon Components: It is the explosive filler for specialized munitions like the M18A1 Claymore mine and certain demolition "satchel" charges.
Civilian and Industrial Applications:
While strictly regulated and generally unavailable to the public, industrial-grade variants are used by licensed professionals:
- Controlled Demolition: Used in urban environments to bring down large structures (like bridges or old high-rises) with high precision, minimizing dust and collateral damage to neighboring buildings.
- Mining and Quarrying: Employed in deep-rock blasting where hard rock requires high-velocity explosives to ensure proper fragmentation.
- Seismic Exploration: Used in oil and gas exploration to create controlled seismic shockwaves that help map underground geological formations.
- Booster Explosives: Acts as a high-energy "primer" to ensure the complete detonation of larger, less sensitive industrial blasting agents.
