Description
Circa Mid 1980's
A custom movie prop manufactured by PROPOLOGY.ca featuring simulated functionality. It is intended to portray a laboratory Gas Chromatograph of novel design.
Use Case:
Primarily used in laboratory settings for basic gas chromatography. Designed for separating and analyzing volatile substances in a gas stream.
Suggested Operation:
The operation and appearance of this device are not based upon a particular real-world instrument. This fictional version was created to better suit the on-screen action the client desired. All of the panel indicators and translucent Sample Receiver can be illuminated in any sequence desired by the operator—via a cable connected remote control—however—this is the sample analysis process as originally conceived:
1. Power On: Toggle power ON. The POWER and ON LINE indicators light up and the Sample Receiver glows white.
2. Insert Sample: Place the sealed glass vial (Vacutainer) into the Sample Receiver with the rubber stopper facing downward.
3. Initiate Test: Press the TEST IN PROGRESS button. The corresponding panel indicator will light up, and the Sample Receiver will turn green.
4. Complete Test: Press the TEST COMPLETE button—illuminating its corresponding indicator—while toggling the TEST IN PROGRESS switch OFF—extinguishing its corresponding indicator and the green Sample Receiver illumination.
5. Failed Test (Alternative): To indicate a failure, press the ERROR button instead of TEST COMPLETE while toggling the TEST IN PROGRESS switch OFF—this turns the Sample Receiver red.
Typically, the results of a test would be displayed or printed out from a connected computer.
