Description
Circa Late 1990's
This is an IBM Power Supply that has been custom modified to act as a portable bench-top unit. It was originally normally installed into a late-1990s high-end IBM workstation or server, such as the IBM Netfinity or PC Server series.
Original Components:
- Red Toggle Switch: A classic IBM heavy-duty mechanical AC cutoff, designed to directly interrupt the main power lines.
- 635W Output: A massive power capacity originally required for multi-processor server boards and extensive SCSI drive arrays.
Custom Modifications:
- Status Indicator: An added a red illuminated indicator to provide visual status of the power supply.
- Convenience: A sturdy handle has been added to enhance portability.
- Bench-Top Orientation: The addition of two sets of rubber feet allows for stable operation in both horizontal and vertical positions.
- Voltage Breakout: A terminal block has been attached to the rear to provide convenient access to the supply's various voltage rails (+12V, +5V, +3.3V and -12V or -5V).
