Description
Circa Mid 1950's to Mid 1960's
- Used to provide illumination at night or indoors for amateur movie makers.
- Usually paired with cameras using Standard-8 film (1950's) or early Super-8mm cameras (1960's).
- Requires 4 photoflood incandescent bulbs not exceeding 375 watts each (depicted bulbs are incorrect type).
- When used for color photography, consideration must be given to the color temperature of the bulbs and the color temperature the film type being used. They must be identical in order to ensure proper color rendition—blue daylight bulbs (5500 K) with "daylight-film"—frosted white tungsten bulbs (3200 K) for use with "indoor-film".
- A mismatch creates a color cast—blue if shooting tungsten film in daylight, or orange if shooting daylight film in tungsten light.
- If necessary, filters can correct this mismatch. A blue filter (#80A) cools a warm light source (tungsten) for daylight film, while an orange filter (#85) warms a cool light source (daylight) for tungsten film. Using the correct filter ensures accurate color rendition.
- Camera is typically mounted to the unit via the standard 1/4"/20 tripod screw attachment provided.
- AC powered.
