Modular Multimodal Handheld Detection System (Custom Design - Simulated Operation)

Circa Late 1990's to Early 2000's

A custom movie prop manufactured by PROPOLOGY.ca featuring simulated functionality. Designed to portray a dual-mode, modular sensing platform designed for tactical and industrial applications.

Practical Functions:

Main Sensor Unit: Notionally, a self-contained, short-range, high-resolution tracker. It is intended for near-field diagnostics and high-fidelity data acquisition within a wide-angle field of view. Its practical functions include:

• Operational Numeric LED Display and Directional Indicators: These are tied into a functional ultrasonic distance detection circuit. These displays fluctuate realistically as the objects come into sensor range.

• 3 Operational LED Status Indicators: 2 green LED's are steadily illuminated—a blue one flashes with increasing frequency as the distance closes with a detected object.

• Forward Facing LED Illuminators: User selectable between blue, white or illumination-off.

Enhanced Range Unit: This component is not intended to operate separately from the Main Sensor Unit. Notionally, when connected to the Main Sensor Unit, it serves to enhance the range of the system and provide monitor display capability. Its features include:

•  Quick Release Locking Lug: for rapid and secure attachment of the Main Sensor Unit.

• Long-Life Battery Pack: Electrical connection is made via a BNC connected cable which ties into a battery pack housed within the unit. This provides significantly longer battery life to the Main Sensor Unit as opposed to its own internal battery.

• Monitor Interface : Notionally, it is a full-color LCD monitor for graphical analysis that connects wirelessly with the Main Sensor Unit—in actuality—it is a production provided tablet computer that has been installed into a tablet computer protective housing that is attached via a mounting bracket. This is to accommodate playback of production created graphic animations that serve the scripted function of the device. If unneeded, the tablet and mounting bracket can be removed via its quick release mount.

Plausible Use Cases:

• SIGINT (Signal Intelligence): Intercepting and monitoring distant, low-power radio transmissions.

• Search & Rescue / Tactical Tracking: Locating individuals through dense foliage or structural obstacles using directional microwave or thermal signatures.

• Industrial Inspection: Identifying mechanical or structural anomalies in hard-to-reach environments using the articulated sensor arm and range-enhanced diagnostics.
