Description

Circa Late 1970s to Late Mid 1990's

A custom movie prop manufactured by PROPOLOGY.ca featuring simulated functionality. Designed to portray a multi-zone annunciator panel typically used in commercial settings like office buildings or hotels, most commonly as part of a fire alarm or building management system. It functions as a clear visual interface to identify the specific location or "zone" where an issue, or "trouble" condition, has occurred.

Practical Features:

  • Hinged Access Door: Normally locked closed—opens right-to left (keys included). Provides maintenance staff and 1st responders access to system reset and alarm silencing controls.

Use Case:

Provides building management, maintenance staff, or first responders with immediate, location-specific information regarding system faults or alarm conditions. Instead of an ambiguous "system trouble" light, this panel identifies the exact floor ("16th Floor", "9th Floor", "Cafe", "Pool") or area ("Elevator Shaft", "Kitchen", "Loading") where an issue needs attention. This functionality is often required by building codes to ensure timely response.

Historical Significance:

The historical significance of this type of panel lies in its role in the evolution of building life safety systems. Earlier systems relied primarily on audible alarms and simple lights. The transition to multi-zone, point-lit graphic annunciators was a significant step forward in improving life safety by providing precise location data. This innovation drastically improved the efficiency of emergency responses by directing personnel exactly where they needed to go, rather than simply indicating that an issue existed somewhere in the building.

NOTE: LED indicators can be rigged to illuminate via wireless remote control at client request.
