Description

Circa Late 1980's to Early 1990's

This unit functions as a computer terminal or control unit within a larger NCR point-of-sale system, managing sales, inventory, and interfacing with other peripherals like cash drawers or printers.

Common POS Peripherals:

  • Printers: The parallel port (DB25 connector) would connect to specialized receipt printers or journal printers to provide physical transaction records.

  • Cash Drawers: Cash drawers typically connect via a signal cable to the receipt printer or directly to a dedicated port on the computer to open automatically when a sale is finalized.

  • Scanners: Barcode scanners were used for inventory management and faster checkout.

  • Keyboards/Displays: Custom POS keyboards with programmable keys or simple 2x20 customer-facing displays would be connected via serial (RS-232) or PS/2 port.

  • Magnetic Stripe Readers (MSRs): Devices for reading credit/debit cards would be connected, often via a serial port.

NOTE: Original off-white housing repainted grey. If desired, there is an additional unit available in its original color.
