- The Nikon BR-3 (in conjunction with the included BR-2) is specifically designed to facilitate "reverse lens mounting", particularly when using a Nikon F-mount lens in a macro setup, often in conjunction with a bellows unit like the Nikon PB6.
- When a Nikon F-mount lens is reverse-mounted, its bayonet mount (normally used to attach to the camera) is now facing outwards towards the subject. The BR-3 attaches to this exposed rear bayonet mount of the reversed lens, converting it into a 52mm filter thread.
- Also compatible with certain NIKON DSLR cameras.
