Description
Circa 1977 to 1991
Compatibility:
- NIKON Film SLRs: Fully compatible with manual focus NIKON film cameras like the F3, FA, FE, FM series, and older F and F2 Photomic bodies (with the "bunny ear" coupling for metering). This lens was designed primarily for these cameras.
- NIKON DSLRs (Manual Focus & Metering): Can be used on all NIKON DSLRs in manual focus mode. On higher-end DSLRs (e.g., D300, D600, D7200, D750, D800/E, D850), you can utilize in-camera metering by setting the "Non-CPU lens data," which provides focal length and maximum aperture in EXIF data. Lower-end DSLRs may require manual exposure settings using an external light meter.
- NIKON Z-Mount Mirrorless Cameras: Compatible via the FTZ adapter, or third-party adapters like K&F Concept, though functionality like autofocus and in-body image stabilization (if applicable to the camera model) will not be available. Manual focus peaking and magnification tools in the EVF assist with focusing on these bodies.
- Other Mirrorless Systems: Can be adapted to various mirrorless camera systems (e.g., Sony a6000, Fujifilm X-series) using appropriate adapters, albeit with manual focus and potentially limited or no electronic communication.
