Circa 1991
An 8-bit handheld game console that was the first mainstream portable system to feature a full-color backlit screen.
Accessories Available Separately:
- Wide Gear (Screen Magnifier): This transparent plastic attachment clips over the screen to enlarge the image for more comfortable viewing.
- RF Adapter (Model MK-1632): This wired adapter allowed the Game Gear to be connected to a television's antenna port.
- Game Cartridge: "Ren & Stimpy: Quest for the Shaven Yak,"a platformer released for the Game Gear in 1994.
Note: This unit has not been recapped, and may eventually experience screen fading or sound failure, which are common issues for original 1990's models. Recapping (the replacement of components know as "capacitors" that are prone to failure with aging) can be provided at client request.
