Cosmetically modified from original, but retains original functionality. Modifications included:

• Contour added to back of display featuring an extendable (nonfunctional) antenna.

• Housing color changed from its original light-grey to silver.

• Dummy track pad and camera added.

• The text "T-46" has been added to the left side of the palm rest area.

70CT Specifications:

The standard TOSHIBA Libretto 70CT, released around 1997, offered a full Windows PC experience in a paperback book-sized form factor.

• Processor: Intel Pentium 120 MHz with MMX technology.

• Memory: 16 MB of onboard EDO DRAM (expandable up to 32 MB).

• Display: 6.1-inch active-matrix color TFT screen with 640x480 resolution.

• Storage: A 1.6 GB 2.5-inch IDE hard drive.

• Connectivity: One 16-bit PC Card (PCMCIA) slot, an IrDA infrared port, and a proprietary port for connecting an external floppy drive or port replicator.

• Weight: Approximately 850 grams (1.89 pounds) with the standard battery.

Expandable Connectivity: With the accessory TOSHIBA I/O adaptor, user's were provided with crucial legacy ports in order to integrate the small laptop into a standard office environment:

• VGA Port: For connecting an external monitor or projector.

• Parallel Port: For connecting legacy printers.

• Serial Port: For connecting older serial devices or modems.

Historical Significance:

This device holds significant historical importance as one of the earliest fully functional, ultra-portable Windows PCs in a paperback book size, bridging the gap between handheld PDAs and traditional laptops.

• Pioneering Ultra-Portability: Released in 1997, the Libretto 70CT (and the series it belonged to) demonstrated that a user could have a complete, x86-based Windows 95/98 experience in a device weighing less than two pounds. It redefined expectations for mobile computing form factors.

• A Niche Market Leader: While other small devices existed (like the HP 200LX or Windows CE devices), the Libretto ran the full desktop operating system without emulation or specialized software, making it uniquely powerful for its size.

• Modified to Become a TV Series Prop: These particular CT70's were custom modified by professional prop builders for the late 1990's television series known as THE NET. They portray certain additional features that did not exist in the original Libretto CT70—as well as to obscure the origin of the stock device—referred in the series as the "T-46 prototype". This short-run series ran from 1998 to 1999.
