Description

Circa 2013

A device designed to mimic a standard analog telephone line.

Use Case:

The primary use case is to enable two-way communication between two standard analog telecommunication devices without needing to connect to a live telephone network. Applications include:

  • Equipment Demonstration & Testing: Technicians use it to test and program analog devices like modems, fax machines, or phone systems in a controlled environment.

  • Dedicated Communication: It creates a simple "ringdown" circuit for intercoms, elevator phones, or inter-office communication.

  • Motion Picture & Television Production: Used by Prop Departments to trigger phone ring tones and enable direct talk-paths. This allows actors on a set to hear scripted dialogue from other actors off-screen and also provide the ability to ring a phone on-camera as required.

Historical Significance:

A versatile and cost-effective tool that facilitated the growth of analog telecom technology by providing a simple, reliable way to test and connect devices off-network. In an era where phone lines were tightly regulated and installing new lines was complex, the DLE-200B was a crucial enabler for on-site demonstrations and private communication links.

Its ability to create functional, controllable phone effects also solidified its niche role as an essential piece of equipment for TV and movie Props Departments.

Include Accessories:

  • AC Power Adaptor.
  • Hard Case.
  • Documentation.
