Description
Circa Late 1980's to Early 2000's
Use Case:
This configuration is typical for sharing a single printer or modem among several computers in older office or home setups:
- Ports: The device has a total of four usable ports: A, B, C, and I/O.
- Functionality: The central I/O port serves as the common connection point. The rotary switch then directs that connection to either port A, port B, or port C.
- Bi-directional: The switch is bi-directional, meaning the data flow can be reversed:
- 1 Input to 3 Outputs: A single computer connected to the I/O port can send data to one of three peripherals (A, B, or C).
- 3 Inputs to 1 Output: Three computers (A, B, and C) can share one peripheral connected to the I/O port.
