Description

Circa 2001

Use Case;

Used for general desktop computing (PC and Mac), designed to be a reliable, plug-and-play peripheral for standard office or home use.

A key feature is its dual-scroll wheels, with one for vertical scrolling and a second for horizontal, which improves navigation in wide documents or spreadsheets.

It also includes dedicated "back" and "forward" side buttons, often favored for web browsing and some gaming applications.

It offers dual connectivity via a USB connection with an included PS/2 adapter.

Historical Significance:

Historically significant for its feature set, which was advanced for an economical, general-purpose mouse of its era. It incorporated optical tracking and offered five buttons and two scroll wheels, which was unusual for a non-gaming mouse at the time. Its design represented AOpen's effort to provide advanced ergonomic and navigation features in a mass-market product—utilizing reliable Agilent 800 dpi IC sensors to replace the less reliable mechanical ball mice.

The design was also sold under different brands like A4Tech and GE, highlighting a popular and widely licensed OEM design of the mid-2000s.
