Description
Circa 1997
Use Case:
This configuration is typical for sharing a single printer or modem among several computers in older office or home setups:
- Ports: The device has a total of five usable ports: A, B, C, D and I/O.
- Functionality: The central I/O port serves as the common connection point. The rotary switch then directs that connection to either port A, port B, port C or port D.
- Bi-directional: The switch is bi-directional, meaning the data flow can be reversed:
- 1 Input to 4 Outputs: A single computer connected to the I/O port can send data to one of three peripherals (A, B, C or D).
- 4 Inputs to 1 Output: Three computers (A, B, C and D) can share one peripheral connected to the I/O port.
