Description

Circa Late 1970s' to Late 1980's

A custom movie prop manufactured by PROPOLOGY.ca featuring simulated functionality.

Both panels have been custom rigged for cabled remote control. The LED bar-graph display illuminates incrementally from left-to-right as the remote's control knob is turned. The rate of which the bar-graph fills is dictated by the speed the knob is rotated.

Each panels features several illuminated pushbuttons, some of which can be controlled remotely. Both can be adapted for equipment rack mounting or used as-is, for mounting into a control console.

Possible Use Cases:

Based on the design and potential functionality, these panels would be suited for:

Industrial Control Systems: They could function as operator interfaces for early Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in manufacturing facilities. Before sophisticated HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens, operators monitored machine status and adjusted variables using panels like these.

Audio/Video Production: The style is very similar to vintage audio mixing consoles, broadcast switchers, or effects processors. The bar-graph could represent audio levels (VU meter), and the buttons could select input sources or routing.

Scientific and Laboratory Equipment: In research laboratories, similar panels were used to control custom test rigs, manage high-voltage power supplies, or operate vacuum systems where precise, manual control was essential.

Avionics/Navigation Systems: The rugged look and button layout resemble control units from navigation systems in aircraft or marine vessels from that era, where reliability and simple, direct controls were critical.

Included Accessories:

  • Control Unit.
  • Control Cables (x3).
  • MMPP Control/Power Distribution Unit.
