Description

Circa Mid 1970's to Early 1980's

Use Case:

Used as a point-to-point or multi-point communication system within a home or small office, similar to a contemporary home intercom system. Users can communicate between different rooms by simply plugging the units into standard AC electrical outlets, as it uses the existing power lines for signal transmission (Power Line Communication). This functionality allows for private conversation (using the "TALK" button) or a general "CALL" signal to alert the other unit's user. This unit is also wall mountable.

Historical significance:

This represents an early example of a consumer-grade, easy-to-install, wireless intercom system that leveraged existing household infrastructure (power lines) for communication, a precursor to modern digital and IP-based wireless intercoms. It provided a simple solution for internal communication and access control at a time when dedicated wired systems were more complex and the internet-based systems did not yet exist.

NOTE: 2-Units available.
