Description
Circa 1980's to Early 2000's
History of Production and Use:
- PC Parallel Ports: In the 1980s, IBM selected the female DB-25 connector for the parallel printer port (LPT port) on its personal computers, which connected to printers using a 36-pin Centronics connector on the other end. The cable in your image is likely an IEEE 1284-1994 compliant parallel printer cable, as indicated by the text printed on it.
- Other Uses: The connector has also been used for SCSI-I interfaces on older Apple computers, professional multi-channel audio equipment (TASCAM format), and various industrial control systems.
- Current Production (as of 2025): While largely phased out of consumer PCs by modern interfaces like USB and Ethernet, DB-25 cables are still manufactured and sold today for professional audio applications (e.g., in recording studios), industrial automation, networking hardware console ports, and the maintenance of legacy systems.
PLEASE NOTE: Rental rate is per cable. Various lengths and colors available.
