Description
Circa Late 1980's to Early 1990's
Unlike the standard "L-shaped" adapters that screw into the front of a binocular hinge, this is a clamp-style adapter designed for binoculars that lack a threaded tripod socket.
How it Works:
- Central Shaft Attachment: It is designed to clamp onto the central focusing shaft or the bridge of porro-prism binoculars.
- Adjustable Span: The thumb-wheel in the center opens and closes the padded jaws, which have a span range of 12mm to 20mm (approximately 0.5 to 0.8 inches) to accommodate different shaft diameters.
- Tripod Mounting: The bottom of the adapter features a standard 1/4" tripod socket, allowing you to screw it directly onto any standard tripod head or quick-release plate.
Quick Setup Steps:
- Open the Jaws: Turn the textured thumb-wheel until the clamp is wide enough to fit over your binoculars' center shaft.
- Position & Tighten: Place the clamp over the shaft (usually behind the focus wheel) and tighten the thumb-wheel until it is secure.
- Mount to Tripod: Screw the entire assembly onto your tripod's 1/4" mounting screw.
