Description
Circa 1959
The orange filter was used with black and white film to increase contrast, primarily in outdoor landscape photography. Specifically, it would:
- Darken blue tones: This made blue skies appear much darker and more dramatic, while also causing clouds to stand out more.
- Lighten warm tones: The filter would lighten the appearance of warm colors like red, yellow, and orange, which helped bright sunlight stand out in the final image.
- Cut through haze: The filter could also help minimize the bluish cast of atmospheric haze.
- Orignal packaging available upon request.
