Description

Circa 1994

An indoor active antenna system designed to enhance the reception of shortwave and broadcast radio signals.

Use Case:

Used with portable shortwave receivers to improve the clarity and strength of weak or distant stations, often rivaling the performance of an outdoor antenna. It connects to the radio via an audio cable (or by clipping an adapter to the radio's telescopic antenna). The controls allow the user to adjust RF gain (amplification) and fine-tune the signal's frequency (tuning and band selectors) to minimize static and noise before the signal reaches the radio.

Historical Significance:

A classic accessory from the golden age of shortwave listening (SWL) and a popular product in the vast Realistic lineup. It represents an era when hobbyists relied on affordable, dedicated equipment to tune into international broadcasts and distant signals. The product is noted for its surprisingly good performance for an indoor unit and its durable design.

NOTE: 2-Units available.
