Description

Circa 1968

A high-impedance, "Controlled Magnetic" dynamic hand-held microphone specifically designed for mobile communication applications.

Use Case:

Designed for outdoor public address and mobile communication activities, including police, fire, utility, forestry, transportation services, commercial, and amateur (ham) radio use. Its primary function is robust voice transmission in fixed or mobile radio installations, often as a direct replacement for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) microphones in General Electric "Progress Line" radio equipment. The microphone features a single-throw, double-pole leaf-type switch for push-to-talk (PTT) operation.

Historical Significance:

Significant as an extremely rugged and reliable microphone that was an industry standard for professional mobile communication during the mid-to-late 20th century. Its "Armo-Dur" high-impact case made it immune to harsh conditions like oil, grease, fumes, and salt spray, making it popular among public safety and commercial fleet operators. It represents SHURE's long-standing history of producing durable, high-quality audio equipment for demanding professional applications.
