Description

Circa 1989

Product Details:

  • Function: The primary purpose of the Color Splitter was to allow monochrome digitizers, such as the SunRize Perfect Vision or DigiView, to capture full-color images. It accomplished this by sequentially splitting the incoming composite video signal (labeled with inputs for SAT and HO, and outputs for RGB) into its primary color components.

  • Compatibility: It was designed specifically for use with the vintage AMIGA and COMMODORE line of personal computers.

  • Features: The unit includes manual adjustment knobs for saturation (SAT) and hue (HU), and a toggle switch for the RGB outputs. It typically takes a composite video input and provides color-separated signals to the associated digitizer hardware.

  • History: The device was developed by SunRize Industries, a company Anthony Wood started in his college dorm room to create hardware and software for the Amiga platform. The company was highly successful in its niche during the late 1980s.

This is a niche vintage computing item, often sold as a collectible to enthusiasts and historians.
