8-Channel Programmable Radio Detonator
From the TV series MILLENNIUM
The scripted action for this prop required that all channels were to be activated, then all explosive charges detonated simultaneously.
The design of this prop was closely based upon a real, commercially made device.
Some months later, after the project had been completed, we had an opportunity to photograph a real RF detonator beside our version.
At the time the project began, the only pictorial reference we had access to for this esoteric item, was a tiny photocopied image from a product spec sheet.
Our prop version featured microprocessor controlled LED sequencing and custom (backlit) membrane-switch keypad.
Operational features identified. All other controls not identified here are non-functional.

Device Operation
- The black rotary switch is turned clockwise causing the device to power-up and self-check. All yellow LED's illuminate, then blink twice, to confirm communication with active detonator receivers (the device is now in "STANBY/READY MODE").
- Pressing "ARM ALL" extinguishes the yellow "STANDBY" LED's and illuminates all 8 red "ARMED" LED's. The red LED above "FIRE ALL" begins flashing (the device is now in "ALL-ARMED MODE").
- Pressing "FIRE-ALL" causes all 8 "ARMED" LED's flash twice and extinguish ("FIRING COMPLETE").
