Description
Circa Late 1990's
A custom movie prop manufactured by PROPOLOGY.ca featuring simulated functionality. Designed to portray a closed-loop conditioning tool designed to monitor and modify a subject's mental state via physiological feedback.
Core Components & Logic:
- The Hub: A microprocessor-controlled console that plays audio cassettes. It dynamically adjusts the order and repetition of questions based on real-time data.
- The Sensor: A headset that provides audio playback and tracks physiological responses (GSR/pulse), transmitting this data back to the console.
- The Visualization: An LED graph categorizes thoughts into three ranges:
- Green (1-4): "Light Thoughts" (Calm/Compliant).
- Yellow (5-8): "Careful" (Stress/Caution).
- Red (9-11): "Dark Thoughts" (Negative/Non-compliant).
Behavioral Conditioning:
The system employs Aversive Conditioning to enforce mental discipline:
- Correction: Entry into the "Red" range triggers an electrical shock through the headset.
- Escalation: Persistent "Dark Thoughts" result in increased frequency and severity of shocks.
- Scientific Parallel: It functions like an automated, punitive E-Meter, moving beyond simple measurement to active physical enforcement of a desired psychological state.
History:
This unit was custom-built for the television series Millennium and appeared in the Season 2 episode 'Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense' (1997)."
