Description
Circa Late 1990's to Early 2000's
A specialized power control unit/transformer and IR-1759 MiniRay infrared heating tool. This system is used for precise, repeatable application of heat to SolderSleeve devices and heat-shrinkable products in high-reliability industries.
Use Cases:
- Aerospace & Defense: Widely used for creating high-performance wiring harnesses and terminations for aircraft and military equipment.
- Bench-top Production: Designed for stationary use in electronics assembly, where consistent heat levels are required for discrete component processing.
- Electronics Maintenance: Ideal for installing MiniSeal splices and SolderTacts contacts in confined or sensitive areas.
Operation:
Product Placement: Slide the SolderSleeve or heat-shrink tubing over the wire or component being joined.
Heating Sequence:
- Manual Mode: Pull the trigger switch on the gun handle. The infrared lamp energizes and stays on only while the trigger is depressed.
- Automatic/Pre-set Mode: If using advanced ED-7 series controllers, you can pre-set the specific power level and heating time (typically 15–30 seconds) to ensure every connection is identical.
Observation: Use the optical filter on the gun's aperture to safely watch the heating process. The solder will melt and the sleeve will shrink once the target temperature (approx. 500°C) is reached.
Cooling: Release the trigger and allow the joint to cool undisturbed for several seconds to ensure a strong, watertight seal.
NOTE: 2-Units available.
