Description
Circa Mid 1960's
A consumer-grade, handheld two-way radio from the mid-20th century. The most inexpensive versions were often sold as children's toys.
Use Case:
Used for short-range, personal communication, primarily as a recreational "walkie-talkie" for children and hobbyists, or for simple communication around a home or yard. Operated over a single crystal-controlled frequency in the Citizens Band (CB) range (typically Channel 7 or 14). The side button is a push-to-talk (PTT) switch, and the top dial controls the power and volume.
Historical Significance:
A prime example of the mass-produced, affordable consumer electronics that brought the fun of two-way radio communication into homes before the dominance of personal cell phones. These simple devices helped popularize the CB radio trend and often came in pairs in a box for use right out of the store.
NOTE: 6-(2-piece) sets available.
